So let's just get this out of the way first; no, it's not really a bowl. But I already had a bubble
vessel, so calling it a bowl seemed like a reasonable way to differentiate them. And with that out of the way;
I had previously made a turning with a similar profile in the early days of my lathe (circa 2010) but a moment's inattention when I was almost done resulted in the hollowing tool rattling around and causing some unrecoverable damage. I kept the wounded piece around thinking I may someday may make something out of it (probably not) but anyway I still liked the shape and finally got around to making this piece as a sort of penance for that goof.
The original piece was to be pierced and I originally had the same intent for this one. However when looking at images of bubbles for the pattern, I decided I liked the surface profile of the bubbles so I switched over to having a contoured surface instead. The piece was just turned and carved although those wanting a bit more detail can look
