I had originally planned to make a laminated trivet as one of the varieties in a series I was making, but I thought this one would be better as a breadboard. Physically there isn't much difference except for the finish; the trivets received a heat-resistant varnish coat but since that could be damaged by knife blades the breadboard instead uses a non-film-forming finish which in this case is a food-safe beeswax-mineral oil blend.
The breadboard is all maple with the main body being the familiar light-colored Hard Maple while the center vein and edge trim are Roasted Curly Maple - the roasting process giving the wood the nice caramel color. Patterns were used to route the pieces with matching edges and then the individual pieces were
laminated together.
