Cabinet - Door Back
The top shelf of our front closet is rather overstuffed with hand and head-wear. We did some de-cluttering and despite discarding/donating/relocating over 2 cubic feet of stuff it still didn't free up quite as much space as we had hoped. So rather than address the root cause which would no doubt require therapy and/or a drug regimen, I decided to build another cabinet.

This cabinet is also intended to address the too-high nature of closet shelves that most-acutely affects those uncontaminated by a Y chromosome. It is mounted in an otherwise-unused space on the back of the sliding closet door, providing access almost a foot below the shelf level.

The cabinet construction is simplicity itself, just four openings for gloves and whatnots. Materials consist of quarter-inch Birch plywood with solid Birch facing on the edges, assembled with glued dado joints. The inner wall has been given curved cutouts for a bit more light and access.
