I built this set of drawers to hold screws so they would be easy to find and access. It has a finger-jointed outer case similar to the
junk drawers I made a couple years ago but in this one the drawers are actually trays that hold plastic cases. I also opted for commercial full-extension slides rather than simple wood slides. The cases can be removed if I need access to a selection remote from the drawers.
The cabinet and drawers
were made from a combination of 3/8" and 1/4" Baltic birch plywood. The cabinet uses glued box joints at the corners while the trays are pinned and glued. The plastic cases have 54 compartments each of varying size and all with rounded bottoms to make parts removal easier. Mind you most of the compartments are actually pretty deep relative to their size so I usually use a magnet-tipped stick to aid in extraction.
