Sue had requested a set of drawers to help bring order to a disturbingly large collection of socks squirreled away in her clothes closet. I was originally going to just default to making the size roughly the same as her current storage solution (17" x 14" bins) but she wanted the widest and deepest drawers that would fit into the closet; evidently the sock collection is not yet complete. The height was limited to 27" so the set would fit below hanging clothes but after several heartfelt "Bigger!" urgings as I was doing the drawings, the drawers ended up 18" wide and 22" deep.
The
construction of the set uses solid cherry for the base, drawer fronts and top while the sides are cherry-veneered plywood for seasonal stability. Drawers are box-jointed Baltic Birch plywood construction with full-extension ball-bearing slides.
