Key Bin
Back in the good old days, a car key was largely like any other key - a flat piece of chromed brass - and it was easy enough to keep some small number on a keychain with other keys. Now however, even Sue's 14-year-old car has a chunky remote and as a result it isn't very practical to carry more than one. We have three vehicles, all with their own non-svelt fobs so Sue's solution was to stash the key fobs in the side of an antique magazine-holding end table located near the door. The problem is that the storage is about 8" deep, narrow and dark so it's rather difficult to try to grab the right one off the bottom since it needs to be done by feel.

The solution was to make a key bin to sit at the top of the table storage. It's shallow enough to be able to see the fobs, has three separated bins for different fobs and a nice rounded bottom to facilitate scooping out the desired fob. Construction was pretty straightforward with a shaped base and thin walls, all in solid walnut to match the table.
