Almost exactly one year ago, I made a folding
phone stand which has worked well. However I ended up being slightly offended by the fact that it didn't fold completely flat. When folded, the phone support sticks out over half an inch so instead of being 1/3" thick it is close to 1". How could I have let this happen? Well, that's what second revisions are for - fixing the shortcomings of the first prototype.
I tweaked the design so it folded fully flat to 1/3" or just under 9 mm. It ends up being a bit longer than the original when folded but that seemed like a reasonable tradeoff. At the request of the main user it also received some geometry adjustments to be able to hold the phone at a slightly lower angle. I ended up
making two stands, one from Cherry like the original and a second from Purpleheart.
I'll just clarify that the "2021" name referred to the year I started the new stands, but it wasn't until the new year that they achieved a state of completion.
2023 Update: I had a request for a couple more stands, so I revised the design slightly and set about
whipping up a few more with that new design.
