This is a simple little plate that was turned from Cherry. One could argue that being only about 6 inches in diameter it is really more of a saucer than a plate, but either way its Purpose In Life is to hold a small heat pack as it is warmed up in the microwave oven.
My wood projects don't get a lot simpler than this; A length of cherry was cut from a plank and then it was
turned, sanded and finished.
Now I didn't think to dry out the wood before turning it so while the moisture level was stable from having been stored in my shop for a couple years, it gets pretty warm in the microwave even at the 20-second shot used for the heat pack. We'll see if it tolerates repeated heatings or eventually dries out and/or cracks with time.
