A friend of mine made this slide viewer to look at stereoscopic medium-format slides. It includes a removable light source to backlight the slides which, along with the 3D view gives a very bright and startlingly-realistic image.
The viewer was originally built many years ago using maple for the sides and plywood for the other surfaces. Unfortunately the top had warped and since I was looking for a project, he suggested I could replace the warped top and the open front, so this is really more of a renovation project.
Most of the reno
effort went into the shaping of the front, with the rest going into making the new top and adding a finish. The lenses and inner details are unchanged.
