Table - Chair Arm
I have a reading chair in the sunroom which is positioned to the left of a small table. Being right-handed I thought it would be more convenient to have a table on that side, but the room layout prevents a table there. As an alternative I made this chair-arm table which sits on the right-side arm and is big enough to hold a coffee and maybe a modest snack.

I had seen a similar, commercially-purchased table at a friend's place so that was the inspiration for this one. The commercial unit was a fixed design which requires a rather large storage space for when it isn't in use, so as a refinement this one was made to fold up for compact storage. The table "legs" hinge out and fit on either side of the chair arm, squeezing it slightly to hold the table in place. When folded, the narrower leg folds into the opening on the wider leg to minimize the folded thickness. There are some construction details here.
