I had recently spent inordinate amounts of time making a set of
plug coasters, and I fantasized about easier ones I could be making instead, even going so far as to make some plans. Then when the plug coasters were done, I figured "Why not?". So these are some other coasters I thought might look interesting, just made on the scale of weeks rather than months.
I made an even dozen coasters which gave enough for two sets of six, and followed that up by making a pair of holders as well. The holders are both fabricated using mahogany with maple trim.
Now, I'm unsure if this violates any old-guy-working-in-the-shop secrecy restrictions but I'm prepared to risk the repercussions and reveal that these were made by
sticking a bunch of pieces of wood together with glue. To compound my transgressions I will clarify that they were then turned on a device called a lathe and furthermore coated with a polyurethane varnish compound.
