Dad's Carvings
My Father had a fair bit of artistic talent. In addition to his carvings, he can also draw, a skill that seemed to elude any of his children. To occupy us kids sometimes, he would begin a drawing with a small line or shape, and we would try to guess what it was going to be. He would often draw a section of one part and then move on to a
section of another part, so it was not usually obvious what it was going to be until some of the parts were almost complete. - then it would become evident that it was a boat or a car or a cow, or whatever.
These carvings were almost all whittled by hand with his pocket knife.
