I took a short break from building a series of plant stands and whipped up a shop air filter. I already have a
serious dust collection system but it doesn't capture all the dust even from machines it's connected to, much less what is produced by hand. I also have a commercial air filter in the shop but it is getting a bit long in the tooth and squeals like a banshee on startup a day or two after its last (annoyingly-involved) lubrication.
My intent was to try for something quieter and more effective and
this construction was the result. It uses four MERV-13 filters and a regular bladed fan. It succeeds at the quieter goal and is about 30% faster in getting the air quality from "very poor" down to "good".
