This is one of my favorite little pieces. It is a Mobius ring, which in concept is a one-sided strip. It is like what you get if you take a strip of paper, give a half-twist, and join the ends to form a ring. If you place a pencil on the surface and draw a line along the ring, you will come back to where you started the line. Unlike the Klein bottle, this one I could actually carve. I used Kingwood, which is a very hard wood. It also finishes very nicely when sanded with a fine grit. Like most of my little carvings, this one was just waxed.
