After finishing off a plywood case with numerous shaped pieces, I figured it was time for something more straightforward like a wood turning. I had noticed a vessel with this design a number of years ago and thought it would make a good subject.
I used Black Locust since I had an appropriate piece of wood that I had bought for a tall vessel that I never ended up making. However I used the wood since I reasoned that even a short turned vessel on the shelf must trump the potential for some future tall vessel. The piece was just turned on the lathe and then carved, sanded and finished although my extensive woodworking experience allowed me to compress those four steps down to a mere
forty or fifty.
