I had decorated the bottom of a previous turning with small multi-colored leaves and thought the effect looked good enough that it deserved its own venue. I did some thinking about what that might be and ended up settling on a potpourri container. I will point out that I myself have absolutely no use for a potpourri container but that didn't stop me
20-odd years ago so once again I forged ahead.
The wood originated in a neighbour's tree pruning from a few years back and the Manitoba Maple provided a nice light background for the leaf colors. The
fabrication started with turning the small container and lid, after which the leaves were drawn on, carved in and finally colored using fine felt markers. Some strategic varnishing and sanding helped keep the color application clean.
