Rack - Drawer
A acquaintance had requested a couple of drawer racks - one for coffee pods and another for spice bottles. Both were made from birch plywood with the spice rack also including some solid birch as well.

The design of the pod rack is pretty straightforward, with the pods sitting face-down in circular openings. It is made to fit the rather large Nespresso Virtuo pods which are about 2-1/4" in diameter. This line of pods is a bit different than most previous pod styles in that you can get different types of coffee in them (espresso, brewed, etc.) and actually come in three different depths to acommodate the quantity of coffee required for each type. The pods are colour-coded so you can tell what they are without needing to look at the top label. They also have a bar code on the bottom of the rim to tell the coffee brewer what type of pod it is (or the user of course, assuming they are fluent in bar code).

The rack includes a middle layer that supports the pod rim and provides some clearance in the center for the foil top of the pod to bulge out. That isn't normally a problem but this rack will live in Colorado and the atmospheric pressure is low enough there that sealed packages strain at their seams.

The construction of the spice rack is similarly straightforward, consisting of four sloped surfaces to hold the 1.75" x 4" spice bottles. It will hold 40 bottles at full capacity.
